...to worry about everything, second-guess every decision you make, compare your life to the lives of others or to the life you thought you'd have.
Or, you can choose to embrace your life, whatever choices you've made and whatever has come to you by chance.
You can make the choice to be grateful, and hopeful, and to live a life filled with love.
All Feeling Better

That really is it in a nutshell. Easier said then done sometimes, but definitely words to live by.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It is easier said than done! It seems like most human response broadly stems from three basic emotional states: apathy, fear, or love.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, it is easier for most of us to live in fear. "Choosing love" doesn't always come as naturally. The worrying, second-guessing, and comparing are all still going to happen sometimes. (Those feelings just seem to push themselves to the surface.) But being able to see happiness as a choice, and to see our own power to frame and shift perspectives...that is key.
You're so right- it's all about choices. Sometimes you have to force yourself to choose not to worry about things or compare your life to others but it is the better choice and worrying and comparing gets you nowhere.
ReplyDeleteI love this. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to link to it from my blog www.allaccesspasstojack.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteI really like what you've written. It is easier said than done. But I think one can find a lot of peace if one can heed this wisdom. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said. Chris is right... easier said than done sometimes when we're in the thick of things. It's nice to step back, slow down and choose to love.
ReplyDeleteMarie, I don't mind at all :)...
ReplyDeletelisa, your latest posts, about preschool, bridget's bday, choice, etc., have really hit home for me. for some reason, reading each one brings tears to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteour ben boy is 28 months old and we will soon be coming to many of the same milestones that bridget is. but it's not just the timing that gets to me. i think it's more that i'm in overwhelming agreement with you on all of these things. it's hard for me to realize how much ben is growing and how i need to let him grow; it's ridiculous really how scared i am sometimes of letting him go, but also so fearful that he won't be able to. and mostly, how much i love him and everything about him, and how he makes our lives so full and rich in ways we never would have known otherwise.
thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being so real, so open, so honest, so spot on.
it means so much.
I needed that. Thx XOXOX
